Continuing to post items from my trip to New Orleans for the annual CEE Economic and Personal Finance National Conference. Here is Post #2 (on Jacob Clifford, the keynote speaker on Day 1 of the main conference).

I have to admit that I suspected this would be one of my highlights of the conference! I'm not quite as much of a "fanboy" as my colleague Ruth Cookson (who had to get a picture BEFORE Jacob spoke!) but I have used Jacob's content (particularly his EconMovies and Crash Course YouTube channels) for years in both my middle school classroom and later as recommendations for teachers during professional development. He did not disappoint - his presentation was very interesting and kept the crowd of 350 teachers focused and engaged.

And then, as you can see on the right, I had to swallow my

nervousness and go introduce myself after lunch was over.

Part of my thinking, of course, was planning to post something

like this afterward - but part of it was figuring I wouldn't have

too many more opportunities to meet someone I really

respect for succeeding both in and out of the classroom.

Below, I'm just going to include a few links to Jacob Clifford's

main websites and resources. If you don't already know it,

Jacob left the classroom a few years ago to focus on Advanced

Placement training for teachers/students and his own website

of pay resources. But a lot of his older material is still readily

available - and the EconMovies references are just as relevant

as they used to be (especially since today's students are quite

familiar with most of the movies he used).
