Early November Resources (the FEATURED stuff)
This will be a fairly short one - two of the three main "holidays" for early November (Dia de los Muertos and Election Day) have already come and gone. But it doesn't hurt to still feature new content for those, and for Veterans Day next week. As promised, look for Thanksgiving content in about 2 weeks . . .
Featured Early November 2026 Resources (in the order presented):
“Midterm Elections Lesson Plan”, PBS Learning Media, Oct 2026, https://thinktv.pbslearningmedia.org/resource/38b6a73b-1f1f-43ca-a3b7-137b2719a6d6/midterm-elections-lesson-plan/ AND a specific lesson on ballot issues - https://www.pbs.org/newshour/classroom/daily-news-lessons/2026/10/a-look-at-the-major-state-ballot-measures-voters-will-decide-in-the-midterms
“Election Central: An Educational Guide to the U.S. Elections”, PBS Learning Media, https://rmpbs.pbslearningmedia.org/collection/election-collection/
“Midterms Teaching Resources” (part of ICivics Election Headquarters), iCivics, Oct 2026, https://vision.icivics.org/election/
“Military Money Survey, 2026” (with infographic), Wallet Hub, Nov 2025, https://wallethub.com/blog/veterans-day-money-survey/53825
“Veterans Day in the Classroom”, National Education Association (NEA), updated Oct 2026, https://www.nea.org/professional-excellence/student-engagement/tools-tips/veterans-day-classroom
As promised earlier, here are a few featured new (or overlooked) resources for the early part of November (before Thanksgiving) - those "turkey day" resources will be featured separately in a couple of weeks. I know some of these are past us (the challenge of "too early" in the month, like with Fourth of July) but hopefully you can either find other times to bring up the material OR save it for next year! As usual I am starting by featuring a few items, then providing all of the links (featured and others) at the end . . .

Lesson #1 - PBS Learning Media's “Midterm Elections Lesson Plan” (including a specific lesson on ballot issues)
I'm going to start with this one because for social studies or government teachers I could absolutely see this being a topic you continue focusing on into November. Besides, in many places (and with the close nature of the results) the vote counts may not be finalized until mid-November anyway! I particularly liked the lesson on ballot issues around the country as a way to look at common themes in various parts of the United States (and a good connection to geography issues).

Lesson #2 - iCivics - "Election Teaching Resources"
I also wanted to add this one because iCivics made a point of adding 3 specific lesson plans for the midterm elections to their existing content on elections in general. I particularly liked the infographic on midterm Math (talking about the number of offices and ballot issues involved) simply because math often gets "overlooked" in discussions of civics until people want to talk about majorities.

Resource #1 - Wallet Hub's "Military Money Survey" for 2026
I felt like I might have missed this one last year, but it fill a nice gap in financial information between Halloween and Thanksgiving. Specifically this is a nationally representative survey to gauge people’s opinions about military personal finance perks and much more. I did not include all the findings (but the link is below) but here are a few significant ones in infographic form.

Lesson(s) #3 - National Education Association (NEA) - K-12 Lessons for Veterans Day
I also may have missed this one previously (or perhaps thought the links were too old since the original is from 2020) but it is newly updated for 2026. I did not include all levels here - just enough to give you a taste for what is included. Some of these duplicate links in my list for November, but others are new and add nicely to the list (especially at the elementary level) . . .
