Free Student Review Materials for next month's Advanced Placement tests - webinars, videos, and final review "stuff"

Starting to see notices for final review sessions for AP tests (plus working out my own proctoring schedule for that 2-week period) so I decided to post what is out there - some things regularly available, and some 1-time review webinars or TV sessions. Mostly focused on students here . . .

This is a timely post of materials I want to get out to teachers (in case you are not already aware of these) with Advanced Placement testing beginning 17 days from today. Let me emphasize - this is NOT intended to serve in lieu of the class content you have hopefully been providing all year long, or the resources you have obtained from College Board about the format and timing of the tests. But we all know students will attempt to supplement that content with their own resources - tutors and tutoring companies, "cheat sheets", curriculum from groups like Khan Academy, study guides and practice tests from the bookstore, etc.. What I want to emphasize here are some of the FREE resources available - webinars, test-taking strategies, and student-focused resources (versus the teacher content I normally focus on) - so that everyone (not just those who can afford the "extras") can choose to access additional help.

Below I am going to divide this up into specific AP tests - I am not able to cover every social studies related topic, but will have something for most of them. A lot of it also is based on whether subject-area organizations are involved - groups like the Bill of Rights Institute, Federal Reserve, and Gilder-Lehrman Institute tend to focus on content for 1 or 2 specific exams rather than a wide variety.

AP MICROECONOMICS (testing 5/4) and MACROECONOMICS (testing 5/8):

AP Economics Live Reviews from the Federal Reserve - https://events.stlouisfed.org/event/8a14b6da-7164-44cc-b7e6-cfa89e6fe101/summary (includes registration links)

YouTube videos from Jacob Clifford - https://www.youtube.com/@JacobAClifford/playlists

NOTE: I know that Jacob Clifford is involved with a couple of other "pay" sites, like ACDC Econ and UltimateReviewPacket.com. I am focusing on free resources, but everything I have heard is that his for-pay materials are well worth the money. I also dropped a sample video below (in case you have never seen his stuff)

AP U.S. GOVERNMENT and POLITICS (testing 5/5) plus a little bit for AP Euro and AP World:

AP Exams: Government (exam review and resources) from the Bill of Rights Institute - https://billofrightsinstitute.org/ap-government-resources-for-teachers-and-students/

Bill of Rights YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/@BillofRightsInstituteVideos/playlists

NOTE: I know Bill of Rights Institute primarily does teacher training, especially lessons working with primary sources, and some of the materials on their website are therefore "locked" to students. The items I am featuring here are being advertised specifically for students, both on their website and YouTube channel

YouTube videos from Steve Heimler - https://www.youtube.com/@heimlershistory/playlists

NOTE: Like Jacob Clifford before, I know that Steve Heimler sells a lot of resources for AP tests on his Heimler's History website. Again, I am focusing on free resources - he covers YouTube review videos on APGOV, AP World, AP Euro, AP Human Geo (added last year) and APUSH (added this year). I don't know anything about his for-pay materials, but I dropped a sample video below (in case you have never seen his stuff) so you can at least evaluate his style . . .

AP U.S. HISTORY (testing 5/8) and AP African American Studies (testing 5/7):

AP U.S. History and African American Studies Study Guides from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History - https://www.gilderlehrman.org/ap-us-history (for US History) AND https://www.gilderlehrman.org/ap-african-american-studies (for African American Studies)

Gilder Lehrman YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/@gilderlehrman/playlists

NOTE: I know Gilder Lehrman also primarily does teacher training - their Summer Institutes for teachers are great! But they also have specific student resources, including these two AP study guides tied to American History (with sample multiple choice questions to test yourself). Also, they have really good test taking strategy videos (including DBQs) within both study guides, and if you go to their YouTube channel you will find content playlists for both exams.

C-SPAN's Cram for the Exam Live Reviews - https://www.c-span.org/program/washington-journal/2025-cram-for-the-exam-ap-government-and-politics-exam-review/658692 (2025 APGOV review) AND https://www.c-span.org/clip/public-affairs-event/2025-cram-for-the-exam-ap-us-history-exam-review/5161171 (2025 APUSH review)

NOTE: The links above are to last years' reviews for APUSH and APGOV, and they use experienced AP teachers for the presentations. At the same time, they are usually not as focused as either Jacob Clifford or Steve Heimler videos on YouTube. The other challenge is finding out when THIS YEAR's reviews will be broadcast - C-SPAN is notorious for waiting until the absolute last minute before putting it on their website or Facebook page.

FINALLY - Two Generic Sites to Prep for Multiple AP Exams:

A Variety of topics from Khan Academy - https://www.khanacademy.org

AP World History OER Project - https://www.oerproject.com/World-History-AP

NOTE: Most of you probably know what Khan Academy offers students - I won't get into their general resources. What I will mention is their new OER Project specifically to support the AP World History course - I have a couple of screenshots below. It is relatively new, but Khan has done several good world history courses in the past.

YouTube videos from Mr. Donn - https://www.youtube.com/@MrSinn/playlists

NOTE: Like Jacob Clifford and Steve Heimler before, I know that Riley Sinn sells resources for AP tests as part of the UltimateReviewGuide.com website. Again, I am focusing on free resources, and the reason I put his separate is an emphasis on lesser-covered AP topics (like AP Psychology and Human Geo). Like the previous ones, I dropped a sample video below (in case you have never seen his stuff) so you can at least evaluate his style . . .
